Dotcomdoggies: The Paw Print Blog

Dogs have so much to teach us.  As I compose today’s journal entry, I look through the large bay windows in the kitchen to the flowered hillside and the manicured lawn that sits just outside the sliding glass doorway.  My two precious dachshund pups, Scooter and Meatball, are running through the foliage on the hill, nipping at each other and at Chloe, a maltese/poodle mix, a dog who is far cuter than I am capable of describing.  Chloe is the princess in the company of wieners.  Being raised by a pack of wieners, she sometimes thinks she is also a wiener.  It’s a case of the Wieners and the Woodle.

But to return to the initial premise, i.e., that dogs have much to teach us…

I have learned much from my dogs.  Through the eyes, ears, tongues and tails of my pups, I have seen consistent and unwavering demonstrations of perfect and unconditional love.  Whether I’ve been gone out of town for several days or just returning from a trip to the mailbox, I am greeted by 12 jumping legs, 6 happy eyes, 3 licking tongues, 1 mass of doggie flesh and we’ll skip the part about the partridge in a pear tree.

The point is that these dogs are pint sized love machines with magical healing powers.  I have been healed by the love they have given me and I am a better person for having them in my life.   I’ve learned to see more of the good in humanity because I can see so much good in these innocent little creatures.  When I see them playing together or just napping in the sun, it’s hard not to find myself with a wide smile on my face.

I’m truly blessed to have these little dogs in my life.
